Lynne Garrett

Piano, Violin

Throughout her life, Lynne Garrett has maintained a dual career as pianist and violinist. She studied piano in Santa Barbara with the renowned Hungarian pedagogue and chamber musician Dusi Mura. Further studies brought her to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she worked with Rebecca Penneys, earning a DMA in piano performance. Ms. Garrett has served as pianist on the faculties of Universities in Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, and most recently at Humboldt State University and Cuesta College.

Her passion for chamber music lead to the formation of Colloquy, a contemporary chamber music ensemble. Colloquy has performed across the United States, Mexico, Canada, and in London. Their performance of a work by American composer Jason Haney is included on a CD on the Capstone label.

Ms. Garrett presently resides on the Central Coast where she free-lances, teaches out of her home studio in Orcutt, California. Since returning to California her students have won regional and statewide awards through CAPMT/MTNA, and major statewide competitions such as the MTAC Concerto Competition (San Jose), the North State Concerto Competition (Chico), the Diablo Symphony Concerto Competition (Walnut Creek), and the Paderewski Competition (Paso Robles).
