Music & Piano Instruction in Arroyo Grande
Piano has been a part of my life since the age of 7. I learned to play the organ, and began playing for weddings at 13 years of age at St. Angela’s Church in Pacific Grove. I was at the organ throughout High School, and beyond.
I have been teaching private lessons for the 43 years that I have lived on the Central Coast. I joined Central Coast Music Teachers Association 42 years ago, and have served in several different capacities, some more than once— as President, Secretary, Evaluations Chair, and Contemporary Competition Chair.
I earned my BA in Music from Stanislaus State with an emphasis in Piano Performance. My College experiences included Dominican College and Monterey Peninsula Junior College, as a young woman; Fresno State and Fresno JC as a young wife; and Modesto Junior College and Stanislaus State University as a young Mother. It was an arduous path, working on my degree wherever we were living at the time. I performed 2 solo piano recitals during those years.
Over the years, the teaching emphasis in my studio has been working with beginning and intermediate students. Watching a student “get it” and grow at the piano is very rewarding. My students have been challenged with Spring Evaluations, Piano Auditions, representing our District 6 with performances at State Student Recitals, as well as performing in our studio recitals, both Winter and Spring.
Music is integral in this world, and it continues to be rewarding to bring music into children’s’ lives.
